The Echo Chamber: Interview with Shawn Hazan

Founder & CEO of Hazan Media Group, producers of DJX Show & DJ LIFE Magazine, Shawn Hazan, sat down with DJ Echo of Echo Entertainment for an interview on The Echo Chamber. Echo and Hazan kick things off by starting at the very beginning. Fast forward to almost 30 years ago, and Hazan reveals that the media aspect of his life began due to the fact that he was “always involved in lifestyle and working with media companies.”

Hazan also explains, “as the world became more technologically savvy, media became more than a printed magazine… it became events, it became branding, pop-experiences, newsletters, e-mails, and anywhere we could distribute messaging.” Within The Echo Chamber interview, Hazan proceeds with explaining that what he truly does is build communities.

Echo chats with Shawn about the evolution of DJX Show, which upholds a legacy as well as ushering in a fresh and reimagined experience for all attendees during its annual summer showcase in Atlantic City, NJ. The two also dive deeper into one of the biggest additions to hit DJX ’23, nXt@DJX, which focuses on emerging, aspiring, and youth talent. With the introduction of the first-ever nXt@DJX summer camp and the UPnXtDJ contest, they further explore what’s to come and some of what’s in store for the future of nXt.

More than ever before at DJX, Echo reveals that this year was particularly special, somewhat due in part to the focus on inclusion and emerging youth talent. Not only was the debut of nXt@DJX a great success, Echo continues by explaining how this ripple effect could be felt even on the show floor during DJX ’23, where more youth talent and aspiring DJs and producers could be found showcasing their skills at one of the many booths or networking. And what makes things even better – the youth talent were not only building connections among other peers within their age range, but with older and experienced attendees and talent, who were more than happy to share their wisdom, knowledge, and skills with those eager to learn and develop. Placing an even greater emphasis on education, DJX fosters these relationships through connectivity, inspiration, and most importantly, community.
