The Fourth Annual #UPnXtDJ Contest, a premier platform for emerging youth DJs to showcase their talents at the DJX Show in Atlantic City starts June 23rd, 2026.

The contest, sponsored by BASSBOSS and the DJX Show is open to anyone under 18 in the continental USA, this exciting contest offers a unique opportunity for up-and-coming DJ talent to shine on a national stage.

Prizes:

  • First Place: nXt DJ Summer Camp Class,  2 All Access Passes to the DJX Show, hotel stay at Hard Rock Hotel, and a performance at DJX Show, August 10 - 13, 2026

  • Second & Third Place: Performance at DJX Show + 2 All Access Passes to the DJX Show

  • Top 10 Contestants: Performance at BASSBOSS booth at DJX Show

  • All Contestants: DJX Show 2026 Exhibit passes and a lifetime subscription to DJ LIFE Digital Issues & Newsletters

How to Enter:

  1. Create a video of your DJ performance, no longer than 5 minutes, stating your DJ name and age at the beginning.

  2. Post a sample video on social media using the hashtag #UpnXtDJ

Judging Criteria

1. Entry Requirements (Must-Haves)

Introduction: Contestants must clearly state their DJ name and age at the very start of the video.

Clean Content: Strict use of radio-edited, clean tracks. Points will be deducted for explicit content.

Must be under 18 years old and live in the continental US.

No more than 5 minutes long.

Post a sample of your submission (under 2 minutes) to social media and tag @bassbossbass and @djxshow.

2. Creativity & Style

Originality: Unique flair, mashups, clever wordplay, or live edits that make the set stand out.

Technical Skill: Clean scratching, tone play, beat juggling, or creative use of performance pads.

Stage Presence: Energy, confidence, and personality on camera.

3. Music Selection & Flow

Track Curation: Choosing tracks that tell a story, build momentum, and flow logically.

Versatility: Smoothly navigating different genres, eras, or tempos.

4. Transitions & Technique

Timing: Rhythmically tight, seamless transitions with precise beatmatching and phrase alignment.

Variety: Using multiple transition styles (e.g., long blends, quick cuts, echo-outs) rather than just one trick.

5. Energy & Hype

Set Trajectory: Building the energy from the very first track to an explosive, high-energy finish.

Crowd Vibe: Delivering an undeniable groove or peak-time energy that feels ready to rock

The #UPnXtDJ Contest will open for submissions on June 23rd 2026, with the entry deadline set for July 13th, 2026. Winners will be announced on July 20th.
