DJX ‘25 Education: Skratch Bastid to Give “Keynote Q&A”

Skratch Bastid is not only one of our most notable turntablist/scratch champ/party rockers, but he’s also a two-time Juno Award nominee (Canada’s top musical honor) for his studio work.

Atlantic City, N.J. – Toronto’s Skratch Bastid is not only one of our most notable turntablist/scratch champ/party rockers, but he’s also a two-time Juno Award nominee (Canada’s top musical honor) for his studio work. Born Paul Murphy in the Maritime Province of Nova Scotia, Skratch Bastid rose through the turntablist ranks, eventually winning three Scribble Jam DJ Battles. He also became a global ambassador and judge for Red Bull’s The3style DJ competitions, and host for his own Bastid’s BBQ block-party events. It’s been quite a ride, and at DJX ’25, he’ll sit down for a “Keynote Q&A” (presented by Twitch) to tell you all about it.

Join us at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City from August 11-14 for DJX ‘25—the 35th anniversary of the industry’s most powerful gathering. Keynote Q&A: Skratch Bastid

Launched in 2011, Bastid’s BBQ was founded as a platform to channel his passions of music, food, and building community. With a motto of “Good Music, Good Food, Good People,” the party has become a globally recognized event series, spanning multiple cities around the world, and bringing some of the most talented and legendary DJs and producers in music to its stages.

On Wednesday, Aug. 13, at 3:30 p.m., Skratch Bastid will sit down for a “Keynote Q&A” (presented by Twitch) with DJ LIFE Editor Jim Tremayne and he’ll discuss (and take questions) related to his career ascendance, the state of turntablism and the touring DJ, the Bastid’s BBQ brand, and more. And later that night at The Balcony in the Hard Rock, Skratch Bastid will headline the DJX Closing Party – “Mell Starr & Friends” – with fellow turntable demons Shortkut and Buck Rodgers.

Running since 1990, DJX, produced by DJ LIFE and Hazan Media Group, is the premier global event for the DJ industry. As the largest, longest running, and most impactful gathering of DJs in the Americas, DJX is where DJs, artists, radio stations, mix-show hosts, brands, retailers and industry leaders connect in person to celebrate music, innovation, and education. Highlights include the industry’s largest show floor, After Dark events, and nearly 40 educational sessions.
