DJX ‘26: Reducing Costs, Wait Times & Stress – Out with the Old Show Model

DJX and AEX Convention Services are rewriting the trade‑show playbook, and throwing out the old model, starting with DJX ’26. These changes are the first steps in our blueprint designed to lower costs, increase margins, and create more opportunities for retailers and manufacturers to work together at DJX.

For years, unpredictable material handling costs and onsite delays have limited ROI for participants at trade shows. Our new approach makes exhibiting easier, budget friendly, and more sustainable, so savings and time flow back into what matters—better sales, better planning, better efficiency, and reduced wait times.

Here’s what’s new for DJX ‘26:

  • Fair weight, real savings: Per‑pound material handling—actual weight in, no minimum weight, ending the “round‑up” penalty common under CWT models and unexpected costs.

  • Discounts on drayage for products sold onsite: By assuming a portion of freight has been sold on the floor, manufacturers and retailers can increase margins and increase opportunities to work together.

  • Turnkey booths packages: Discounted bundled solutions with essential furnishings and optional branding elements to simplify setup, reduce stress and reduce costs.

  • Smarter labeling + routing: Distinct labeling for dual‑location brands (floor + demo rooms), sellable product, and defined freight options that minimize idle labor and production time.

  • Educate to save: Webinars and planning guides will be held to help exhibitors consolidate shipments, label correctly, and minimize costs

  • A sustainability nudge: Per‑pound pricing and consolidation mean fewer touches, less re‑handling, and lower emissions across the last mile.

Why this matters:

  • Lower total cost of participation through fair weight policies and fewer delays.

  • Less wait times: faster dock‑to‑booth transfers and clearer freight routing reduce idle time.

  • Increased Attendance: By reducing participation barriers, more brands can exhibit at DJX ’26. And with more brands on the floor, attendees have more reasons to shop, explore, and stay longer throughout DJX in Atlantic City.

  • Only the beginning: These are the first steps for setting a new standard and addressing pain points. We will continue to listen to feedback, innovate solutions, and continue to evolve these initiatives.

Welcome to a smarter DJX. It takes a community.
